What does the title The Last Pluck mean?

The title is about being over 40 as a woman and watching one’s hair turn gray! When I was young, I vowed never to die my hair, but I didn’t have any gray hair back then to complain about. Now, over 40, my hair is going gray and I have to decide if I will ever start to dye it or let it go gray naturally. My husband used to “pluck” out my gray hairs every Christmas as a yearly gift (like one monkey grooming another one) but a few years ago, he told me that it would be my “last pluck” because there are now too many gray hairs to pull out!! This chapter, “The Last Pluck”, ties the whole book together….about being a woman, turning 40, growing older gracefully, living in Asia where it’s not easy to get the right dye color for Western hair, and appreciating every era of one’s life no matter where you are living in this world!

Great to see you in the Good-News Daily again today. You are busy aren’t you?! Congratulations on the book launch. Hope I can get to Shanghai before the end of the year on a work trip. Love to catch up, regards to Michael.

Mrs. Wolfson,

I just wanted to say that I just finished reading your book and I simply needed to tell you that you have been making me laugh and also making me reflect about many things for the last 2 weeks, because that’s how long it took me to read the whole book. To be honest, I picked up your book because I thought it would help SCAA (I just adopted a lovely cat) and because I read about your volunteer work and was really impressed by your initiative, and it turned out to be an amazing surprise. Your humor and sharpness is simply refreshing. Thank you and I will highly recommend your book to all of my friends.

I wish you a lot of success,

Fabiana Thiele
